Corrections Policy
Effective date: 28 May 2026
At SethLathrop.com, we aim to publish history content that is clear, engaging, and reasonably accurate. This Corrections Policy explains how we handle errors, clarifications, updates, and reader feedback.
Accuracy and historical context
Historical writing can involve incomplete records, competing interpretations, translation differences, uncertain dates, and evolving scholarship. We make reasonable efforts to present information carefully and to avoid treating uncertain claims as confirmed facts.
What we may correct
We may update or correct content that includes:
- Incorrect dates, names, places, or events
- Misidentified people or locations
- Outdated historical interpretation
- Missing context
- Broken links
- Incorrect attribution
- Misleading wording
- Unsupported or overly certain claims
- Formatting or language issues that affect understanding
Minor grammar, spelling, or formatting edits may be made without a public correction note.
How to report a possible error
To report a possible error, email:
Please include:
- Article title
- Article URL
- Description of the issue
- Correct information, if known
- Source or reference, if available
Review process
After receiving a correction request, we may review the article, compare available information, consider relevant sources, and decide whether to correct, clarify, update, add a note, or make no change.
Clarifications
Sometimes an article may not be factually wrong but may need more context or clearer wording. In such cases, we may add clarification rather than a correction.
Correction notes
When a significant factual correction is made, we may add a correction note to the article. Smaller edits may not include a public note.
